Following on from this thread I have found a e-Golf which I would like some opinions.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

2019 69 plate
40,000miles
Only options are heat pump and pearlescent paint
£14000
VW dealer

Any thoughts? Is the price right? My first thought it's around £500 too much.

What do you think?

Has it got 50kW DC/7kW AC charging? Do you have a link/pics? I’m familiar with that options/buttons are what.

Yes it does, that's a standard specification.

Ok, got a link? Hard to comment on value without seeing the ad.

Thought one of these would be great for our daughter as she had a Golf and is spending £250/mth on petrol for her 60 mile round trip commute.

But I'm not comfortable that she'd remember to charge it every night and she'd be stuffed if she forgot.

I suppose if it works for your use-case, then why not?

As for the cost, EV prices are taking a hammering, but there's always the possibility that the dealer might dump it while you wait for the price to drop. Are you taking finance? If you don't need it, they might be more amenabke if you take it - you can then Withdraw once you've got the car and it only costs a few quid (daughter just did it and VWFS even waived the few quid).

I had a an E-Golf before my current Tesla Model 3. It was a 2019 with heat pump and was one of the best cars I have ever had. Refined, surefooted and well built - I still miss it today. However it was 'old world' as far as range and though ideal for my work commute it could not handle a longer journey without a top up. Range in summer was around 130 miles and in winter around 100. If I wanted a car when I retire I would have one again in a flash. I think that they represent excellent value for money at present and are so easy to drive.

What is a definitive way to tell between a MK7 and MK7.5 e-golf?

I was going off the central screen as it's larger on 7.5 but believe these car be retrofitted on older cars.

I have found a 2017 e-golf but not sure if it's 7.5.

If she's that absent minded, why would she not forget refueling is dino juice burner?

Mk7.5 came out late 2016, so a 2017 will be a mk7.5. Key improvement as far as the e-golf goes is it has the bigger 35kWh battery and slightly more efficient/powerful motor.

Indeed. Main benefit as far my Mrs is concerned is she doesn’t even have to go to a grubby petrol station and stand in the cold again, and it’s nice and warm/cool when she sets off to and from work with the preheat/cool timers set appropriately. But that’s of course not e-golf specific, rather EV’s in general.

I’m probably being unfair but I’m amazed she’s never run out of fuel -multiple times I’ve got in her car and the low fuel light has been on.

I think she’d get home in a rush and mean to go back later to plug the car in but would forget.

My Mrs was the same, constantly leaving her car on fumes for me to deal with as she couldn’t be arsed to stop off at the petrol station. “too exhausted, kids, too cold, headache, no time, blah blah” usual ste excuses that aren’t worth the subsequent grief to call her out on. So annoying.

Anyway, that problem vanished as soon as she got the e-golf as she didn’t need to go via the petrol station anymore. Get home, plug it in, fully charged and warm for her the next day, job done.

Hello, I've got a 2019 e-golf with 28000 miles which I've owned from new. It's for sale if you're interested.

It's a blue Golf with grey leather interior and adaptive dash. It also has the 17" wheel option.
I'm looking to get about £13000.

My wife has had her 2019 eGolf from new. 40+k miles now and she loves it. Range estimate above is about right, 130ish miles in summer, although it will indicate up to 170. We won't take it much more than 60 miles in one direction. Very smooth and quiet to drive, we use B mode mostly for one pedal driving. Charge it to 100% 3 or 4 times a week and in 4.5 years, range has never changed. Gets about 5 miles/kW. Same tyres too and very little servicing.

Interesting idea here - fit a modern more energy dense battery pack into older e-Golfs and double the range. The e-golf would be an ideal compact electric car with greater range. Probably better than VW's own ID3.
