I'm interested in a motorbike.

To contact the seller via the Ebay system you have to put in your name, phone number, email address & post code. Do these get passed on to the seller?

How else would the seller be able to contact you? It doesn’t seem unreasonable as they’d need to give you the same details if you were going to view it.

If you scroll to the bottom of the form it does say just below the send button that your contact information will be shared with the seller so that the seller can contact you about the vehicle.

I did this the other day and just put rubbish in the boxes as I didn’t want spam e-mails and phone calls (and the ad was a bit sus!), no problem and got a response via the eBay messaging system.

They can reply via the ebay emailing system of course.

The format of the classified system is that it’s an advertising platform rather than a sales platform such as with their auction format.

In exactly the same as Autotrader and Pistonheads Classifieds sale is taking place outside of eBay and without any of their usual buyer protection so having made the introduction via the advert they want you to be able to communicate directly between buyer and seller.
