I bought a replacement part for a power tool online recently. The part fits, but when fitted the tool will turn on but not operate. The replacement part seems to foul the mechanism. So it’s either the wrong part, but designed for a similar model, or the part is badly manufactured/formed.
Anyway, I emailed them the problem asking whether they had sent the correct part and if so could I return it for a refund. They replied with a generic response of “we’re sorry you’ve changed your mind, please return to…”
So I pop it in the post and a few days later get a partial refund. They’ve refunded me the actual cost of the part, but not the postage I paid when I bought it, or when I sent it back. About £8 in total.
Is that right? Seems a bit sharp.
It is sharp and more and more businesses are doing this - its one of the reasons I wont use Sports Direct (or any of Ashleys other businesses) for anything as they were one of the first, if not the first, to do this.Anyway, I emailed them the problem asking whether they had sent the correct part and if so could I return it for a refund.
