I'm intending to get a major service done on my 996. I get the feeling it's been used for runs up and down the Kings Road and that's about it for the last few years.

Would you have anything other than the usual done? She's starting to clear her lungs again, but it's not easy finding anywhere to really give her a good clear out.

Then again, I could just be used to the more peaky top end rush of the Boxster power delivery.

Go to Germany for the weekend. The best place for an Italian tune-up

You can do an Italian tune up anywhere. It's all about revs and not sustained high speeds.

I am aware of the italian tune up

But seriously, does the 996 tail off towards the red line? That's where all the action was in my Boxster

A track day is definitely the best place for an Italian tune up.

Much more fun than driving along the M4 in 3rd gear too

I just tried a bit of "Italian tuning".... but the tip kept changing up at the redline for me.... I ended up going at almost seventy miles per hour you know

I'll just have to hold her at 6K RPM for a while somewhere quiet.
