MG4 XPower - bargain of the year?

Watch the comparison. They think the standard car is better than the XPower. Therein lies the problem with perceived “performance” EVs. It’s very easy to generate huge power and impressive acceleration, but when the rest of the car doesn’t match up you end up with something that is incredibly underwhelming.
Because they were trying to treat it as a hot hatch. That’s not what it is in my opinion. If you think of it as a nice daily driver with great straight performance / overtaking ability then it makes more sense. And is very much a bargain.
I’ve got one on order for next year when my existing Peugeot lease ends. I expect it to be good at daily duties, and with the ability to make you smile with its performance. I don’t expect it to be a drivers car, that’s what weekend toys are for.

Yes, obviously. What’s your point? This thread title is about the MG4 being a relative bargain, and that the EX30 maybe isn’t as good/cheap as was expected. You’re the one who brought a basically irrelevant MG4 vs Golf hot hatch video into it saying the MG4 looks poor. Has anybody on here said that the problem / disappointment with the EX30 is that it isn’t a good hot hatch?

Let’s just say the thread title and the first post don’t exactly match. Reading across other threads it feels like the expectation is that because of the perceived performance of both cars they’re both going to be fun to drive, like a hot hatch. I posted the video not because the comparison against a Golf R is relevant, but because it’s the only video I’ve seen where it’s hot hatch credentials are brought into focus, and ultimately the reviewer claims that the standard car is more resolved. You’re the one who brought a basically irrelevant MG4 vs Golf hot hatch video into it saying the MG4 looks poor. Has anybody on here said that the problem / disappointment with the EX30 is that it isn’t a good hot hatch?
So to answer the question, no I don’t think it is a bargain, but I do think the standard car is.

I’m fairness, we are probably looking at it from slightly different perspectives. There are probably quite a few people currently in the market for these cars who are leasing either privately or via a salary sacrifice scheme. And the value there often doesn’t reflect the purchase price. For me personally this is what makes it a bargain. I’ve got an Xpower on order with a lease of 30 months and 10,000 miles a year.
The net cost to me is £375 a month. There’s no upfront payment, and the lease includes all maintenance, insurance, and any tyres it needs.
Even the new MG4 Extended Range (which is the same price to buy outright) was about £100 a month more expensive on the scheme when I looked.
I can’t remember the exact cost of the cheapest MG4, but I think it was only £50 a month cheaper than the Xpower.
Drove one today, very quick indeed, but in the wet struggled a bit to put the power down and didn't instil me much with the handling. Felt a bit cheap and nasty inside. Not sure what the range would be like, it dropped dramatically while I was driving it, to be fair, I wasn't hanging around though.

And as Insurance on them is £60 a month and £18 a month for an annual service it’s not badly priced at all.
