Am I right in saying you have to drive the car to a location once you have sold it to one of these sorts of companies?

What are the rules around it being taxed/insured? Currently it's sitting on my driveway uninsured and I was also about to SORN it, but does that then mean I can't take it anywhere, or is there some flexibility in the rule if you can prove you're taking it for a drop off having been sold?

How do you think it would go if you had a prang on the way there?

WBAC yes, you take it, it must be MOTD and road legal.

Motorway, not sure on MOT status but I would say they buy cars that are MOTd because why would they want a failure, but the winning dealer picks up, on a truck/trailer.

Yes, not too well I imagine.
But taxing and insuring a car that's not worth much just to do a few miles sounds quite expensive.
I guess best option is a local transport company then.

You are not going to get a proper full price value bid on a car that isn’t road legal.

If it’s a low value car just chuck it on facebay. Buyers responsibility once sold. No test drives.

Well, it's got an MOT, I only cancelled the insurance as of this Saturday just gone when I got the new car, and haven't SORNED it yet, so it's very much road legal, just doesn't have any insurance on it currently.....

Pop it on short term insurance then. Then get rid. You can buy one day insurance for just this purpose.

Isn’t there some fairly recent requirement for continuous insurance if the car is not SORN?

If you have not SORN the car but have cancelled the insurance I think this will (eventually) attract the attention of DVLA.

Correct. If is vehicle is taxed it must be insured. You will probably be ok for a short time but it will flag up to the DVLA who will issue a warning letter, unless SORN’d.

Cool thanks for confirming, I'll get my arse in gear with getting it sold then.
