Astons look so elegant yet purposeful and modern in Silver.
I went out of my way to view a Lightning Silver car (around a 6hr return trip) and was extremely glad I did. The grain of the metallic is much more coarse than standard metallic silver cars and really stands out when viewed a couple of metres or so away. And in the sun there is a golden/blue glow at some angles. Very special and impressive. In my opinion out of all the silvers I've viewed it is the best.

Interesting; it shows how much difference colour makes. The DB11 didn't do much for me until I saw a dark blue Volante from a distance and thought 'Ooo, what's that?'
But I agree on the wheel arches, and other bits too, so it's not on my wants list. Which means I'm £75K richer, hurrah!

That is a beauty.
When I was looking for a DB11 I wanted something different from the Meteorite Silver (grey) of my DB9, but none of the newer silvers really grabbed me when viewed in the flesh.
I went in the end for a Madagascar Orange, a colour I would never have considered in a million years until I saw it live.
ps the cut-off wheel arch put me off when the '11 was launched, but it bothers me not now.

As is your lovely silver
but it doesn't stop me dreaming
Assumptions: comfort and style over sportiness. Holds value. Eye candy. (relatively) reliable.
I’d be going for a decent DB9.2 post 2013 in my preferred spec. Mostly all sorted out. DBS engine and suspension. Easy taken to 565hp. There’s one on auction right now at Bonhams….

I’d have to agree. I never thought for a second I’d be seen in let alone own an orange car, then nearly 5yr ago I spotted this
Got to travel to find the right backdrop though !Look at this DB9.2 -

Yes, a nice DB9.2 is favourite. The outsider is a manual V8 Vantage - maybe a 2015. Would prefer red or some other more wild colour which restricts options significantly of course.
How many red DB9.2's do you see ? There do seem to be more wild colours among Vanquish's which is interesting....

The AM n/a V12 engine is an utter smooth peach, and shifts smooth as silk with its modernish slusher. They really had it nailed in the later years. Are you going to track it? probably not. Are you going to want to impress grandkids ? probably so. Do you want to spend thousands replacing clutches - probably not. Do you actually care that a well set up Vantage might (with the right driver) be a tiny mite quicker through a given corner than you in a race ? - probably not. Do you plan to race young tossers with something to prove in 911’s ? - probably not.
Do you want what is probably THE most majestic noise in christendom to be etched indelibly into your grandkids minds (with their boring driverless electric futures) forever alongside 565bho of smooth V12 ICE surge ??? - has to be yes surely ? Do it for the rest of us if not for yourself !
DB9.2 all the way. You know it makes sense. Also you can buy for 45k if clever/cash auction buyer and put 5k into enhancements and repair pot.

That’s a good looking car!! Something looks slightly “off” re the wheel/tyre combo in the pics, are they standard ?https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310193...

loads of stuff that made me possibly reconsider my "inheritance present" choice
Except I can't get past that the Vantage looks slightly less "stretched", and, the DB9 being longer, wouldn't fit in my garage so well. Phew - had me worried there for a moment.

Perhaps a majority would agree that the more compact Vantage is the better looking car than DB9, but I’d guess it’s a fairly even split.
For OP, there’s a beautiful 14k mile DB9.2 on auction at bonhams and the owner (SE24DB9) has a live thread on it right here…

Silver DB11? - nahhh, Silver DB9.2

Got to chime-in here with some love for the DB9.2. We had a Volante on extended loan in 2016 while my Ferrari 599 was in for body repairs (a numpty in a van slammed his driver’s door into the rear three-quarter panel of my car). My wife and I both preferred it to the 599. We didn’t want to give it back! Our neighbours were all over it with compliments, which made a nice change from the variety of hand signals I’d grown accustomed to with the Ferrari.
