My mate has just bought it, but is being extraordinarily coy about what it is. I managed to get a screen grab from a video of it:

Is it an early Planet Ocean?

he's coy as it looks fake to me, the six looks all kind of wrong, writing above the six looks off and the bezel serrations look way too tight and sharp.

Planet ocean has a date too.

If he's happy with it and is playing it down then leave him be. If he's lording about with look at my new omega and it's a fake then call him out.

No wonder he is being coy. He has won the lottery and bought a $66k titanium watch with the wrong color dial and bezel..

or,

It is fake.

The bracelet is from the titanium watch which also has two lines of text in the bottom half of the dial like your friends picture. Although the image below also has a third line for the limited edition which we might not be able to see on your screen shot. Anything at a reasonable price only says "Seamaster 300". There's a lot of other red flags so I have just put a couple here.

Oh go on, the shape of the 6 is different on the reasonably priced range as it does not join where as the one in your pic and the titanium ones do.

The bracelet looks like cheap crap and the case is the wrong shape.

Did he arrive in this?

I thought they all had the HRV on the case?

It's a seamaster 300 - or a copy of one.

The 300 doesn't have a HEV.

They also came in steel, and having two lines of text is nothing special. The current model has the single line 'seamaster 300' text and a sandwich dial, really nice bracelet. These ones with 2 lines and printed dial are cheaper.

This is what it is (or a copy of) - https://www.chrono24.ca/omega/233-30-41-21-01-001-...

Not sure why hobo is comparing it to the later model.

It turns out it was actually real, but the reason he was being coy about its origins was that he’d borrowed it from a mate, an actor, who gets watches from Omega.

I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong then. The first photo has some odd lighting that makes it look fake when compared to my own Planet ocean. The bracelet especially as the tones are reversed. Also, the shadows make the links look not right.

It’s super compressed, and not a planet ocean.

These 300s are nice, I’m quite tempted by one with a sandwich dial.

Yes, I realize it’s not a planet ocean. I was just making the comparison. I think the 300 is a great looking watch and would consider one if I didn’t have my planet ocean.

And this story either makes an ass out of us spending all our hard earned money on them OR you with it still being jackanory!

I‘m not 100% sure I understand what you mean.

Anyway I think I accidentally mislead you all with my suggestion that it was some variety of Planet Ocean, which it isn’t, and also with that awful screenshot (which was all I had) of the watch!

I have no reason to doubt his story; Theo, his mate, seems to get all sorts of swanky Omegas for red-carpet events.

The lad got me good and proper!

Probably one of these. Easiest way to check is to flip it over and see if it has a CoAxial. Noone's mad enough to fake that! laugh

That's the current model, not quite the same.

This fake Coaxial is pretty bloody convincing
