After receiving an NIP for driving without due care and attention, I returned the s172 and have since heard nothing.

Upon consulting with a Lawyer who is dedicated to traffic cases, he informed me that the Police have up to six months to register a hearing with the local magistrate and issue me with a SJPM. He went on to say they don't do this until Month five.

Does anyone know if this is true or why they wait to near the end of it timing out? I guess it could just be lengthy process which typically takes that much time.

I got a verbal NIP after being stopped for speeding in 2010. Got the paperwork through nearly at the end of month 6. Just when I was starting to hope it had slipped through the net! I swear they do it intentionally the evil tts

Some errors in your post but the gist of it is correct. It isn’t a particularly lengthy or difficult process. It’s simply volume of cases.

Same thing happened to me back in 2007, I received he paperwork for a court hearing right at the end of the 6 month period, I don't think it was deliberate just the volume of cases and lack of court hearing slots.

It's a horrible wait as I remember, good luck with it

Same here. Paperwork landed around a day or two short of 6 months. Being a pessimist I knew I wasn't getting off. I suppose the benefit was my points were over 6 month old when they were finally added.

The Single Justice Procedure didn't exist in 2007. The Single Justice Procedure took effect from 13 April 2015.
