I love seeing cars with unusual specs, whether that be unusual colours or options rarely ticked, especially in ordinary models. I’d thought I’d start a thread to post these unicorns found in the classifieds. I’m talking BMW 316’s with full BMW individual interior etc

I’ll start with this, unusual colour and some rare options -

Interesting topic. Sorry I've nothing to add, but the thread deserves a bump.

Good point about the BMW ,see a few cars with weird specs that would have been cheaper going up a specification and ticking a option pack…

My 02 Civic came w original sale documents and among the options ticked were the ugly rubber bumpers on the doors and 1/4 panels.

When I was looking at a 335d Touringva few years ago, the Preston dealer had a light gold one - an unusual colour for the car. It was unregistered but 2 years old with 20-odd miles on the clock. It had some cloth and mesh sports seats in that I've never seen before or since. Apparently a display car. It was well priced but I didn't buy it, thinking of its resale value down the line. At the time they also had a couple of 1 series in an awful muddy brown colour. I commented on these - the sales buy agreed but said "somebody will buy them".

I knew a chap who was a salesperson at BMW, he would often spec really unusual colour combinations on his company cars and said he never struggled selling them afterwards to people seeking out something different from the usual blacks and greys. I remember him having a 5 series in brown on brown

Oh wow that BMW is something special. I’m imaging the owners teeth matching the interior

I recall there were quite a few Individual “showroom” 440i spec cabs back in 2017. My other half had a similar one for a short while but white with full extended white. The discounts were substantial.

Nice car but the low mileage would make me wonder what it's spent all its life doing.

Here's a coupé with a similar colour combo but a more sensible milage for the age...

On topic...

I bought a brand new BMW 318is E36 when I was 24. Couldn't afford the insurance on a powerful model so I bought the 318 and threw loads of options at it. It's a bit of a unicorn among 318s! It would have been Atlantis Blue but that was an extra £1,500 which was an option too far for my wallet, so I got it in Techno Violet.
