Registration Plate Advice

I'm selling a car and have a private plate on it. I just want to retain it. If I'm selling to We Buy Any Car what should I do? I don't fancy waiting for another V5 and buying new number plates. Can I sell the car and retain the plate on the same day? Or am I bring to simplistic?

If your car hasn’t had a break in tax or SORN in the past 5 years then you should be able to take the registration off online and you will be given the replacement registration immediately.
The V5C will follow in the post and arrive a few days later.
The question is whether WBAC will take your car without a valid V5C (your current one will not only show the incorrect registration but will be invalid as a replacement one will have been issued showing the correct registration).

WBAC will want the correct v5 showing the standard registration.
If you can (it’s not always possible) retain it online now and you should have the new V5 by next weekend .
