New car - private plate returning to previous owner?
Discussion
Hi guys -
Bought a used car privately yesterday -
Guy selling it had not put his private plate on retention.
Figure is farily strightforward to transfer ownership with the existing private number - for me put then it on retention, pass the certificate back over to him and put on my own plate.
My question is - is there a means of transferring straight to a new private plate?
I.e. not get three new V5's (first one with his plate, next one with the DLVA number and then the third with my private plate)
as each change need insurnace changes which, thanks to admiral, costs £30 per pop...
also, is there a way of transferring such that there is just a single £80 retention fee?
(this was priced into the deal btw)
Thanks guys - think its likely going to have to be the long winded route - but though i'd ask the learned forum!
