One for the experts here.

My father recently passed away and one of his proudest boasts was that he was part of JFK's honour guard in Nassau when he met with Harold McMillan.

It's his funeral tomorrow, and for the wake it would be nice to have a copy of the picture.

It's not going to be published, but I also realise that getty have rather deep pockets and are litigious.

Can't add anything other than, lovely sentiment, hope it works out OK.

Nice to see this kind of stuff on PH rather than people constantly trying to get one over on each other.

I would hope Getty, if they did find out, be reasonable about it's use.

I found this copy laying on the floor. It appears the watermark is at the bottom of the image so who knows what could accidently happen when printing the image off. smile

Sorry for your loss, OP. There is a similar, colour photo available here https://www.alamy.com/trip-to-bermuda-tree-plantin... (very reasonably priced for a hi-res version for personal use). You didn't mention which was your father in the photo, unfortunately the middle guardsman is obscured by Macmillan here, so apologies if this is no use.

Thanks everyone, and the lucky find has had an unlucky cropping accident.

The colour picture is great, my father is the sailor with the Lee Enfield.

Mum and my sisters will love these.

It goes to prove that there is a kinder, more gentle side to PH.

In order to pay this forward if any member in the North West needs a run out or a trip somewhere special in a classic P5B then let me know and subject to the body shop pulling their finger out please let me know.

This was the image that kicked everything off. No one believed dad when he told us about meeting JFK (they did speak earlier in the day)

It was only with the picture being uploaded to Wikipedia that we had to grudgingly admit he was telling the truth.

We'll make sure he gets a good send off, coffin draped, cap on top.

I'm raising a glass in his memory tonight, about 9pm. I would be honoured to share one with you.

Dear OP, sorry for your loss.

Use it just for the wake? not to be published or reproduced for any other purpose? To be honest I don't think you need to worry about it. Just use the best picture you can get hold of.

My Dad was ex Grey funnel Lind and called it 'crossing the bar'...found iut after he had gone it was a poem by Tennyson. abd would have been nice saying it at the service...What ships was your Dad on?
Hope it all goes well for you, all i can say is while the pain lessens over the years, the memories still shine bright.
A drop of rum will be taken today in his memory for you

Crossing the bar is in the order of service, it's a well known piece and very apt today.

He served on HMS Illustrious, Eagle, Victorious and the survey ship Vidal.

There were many shore postings, HMS Ringtail, Blackcap, Goldcrest. He did his initial training at HMS Daedalus.

There's probably loads more, back in the day when we had a navy that had more ships than CalMac.

Thanks everyone for the support and help.
