6pts for 36 in a 30 - FFS
Discussion
NIP landed from Avon and Somerset for doing 36mph in a 30 zone along the A303. First offence and a full clean licence for 30years so surprised no suggestion of a speed awareness course and bold text suggesting a £1000 and 6points?
I must complete confirmatory details on back of form otherwise I go to prison doing hard labour breaking rocks…
Seriously though, how does this work? I thought it was 3points or a SAC and a couple of hundred pound fine

Firstly, it won't be an NIP, that comes after you have declared the driver details if required.I must complete confirmatory details on back of form otherwise I go to prison doing hard labour breaking rocks…

Guidelines for "enforcement" start at +10% +3mph, so you will almost certainly be offered an SAC assuming you haven't had one in 3 years.

Sounds like you had a combined NIP (intend to prosecute driver etc.. required within 14 days by law)and s172 to grass driver up.. Not notice of points etc..I must complete confirmatory details on back of form otherwise I go to prison doing hard labour breaking rocks…

Is it asking you for the drivers details? If so you send it off, the they offer you a course,
Did you not also get a bit of paper with common questions stated and answered?

Close but no cigar. Guidelines for "enforcement" start at +10% +3mph, so you will almost certainly be offered an SAC assuming you haven't had one in 3 years.
Enforcement guidelines are generally 10%+2

Oh, and 36 in a 30,
How about 35 in a 30, right at start of threshold to take action, due to massively empty road and no signed indicating the DC was now 30, them relying on lack of repeaters concealed by trees and existing 30mph half a mile before having not gone that way for years.
If I could of, I would have sent Van man into a mine to die at the time.

The Police can't give you 6 points and £1000 fine, that would have to be imposed by a court, I guess it's to try and push you towards the Speed Awareness Course.
As above it would be 3 points and £100 fine but personally I would still do the SAC
Agreed and you’ll probably learn something at a SAC. As above it would be 3 points and £100 fine but personally I would still do the SAC

You'll learn how completely clueless other motorists are. Based on the OP's OP - he might be in good company!
OP,
What it really says to you and should have said:
Dear vehicle keeper,
We have evidence of a car like yours, so are writing to you oblivious as to if it was your car, or if you was, or know the driver.
We intend to make proceedings against the driver, an unknown party.
We may have a picture of drivers face, but most of the time do not.
If you can confirm it was your car, and give us a name to pursue, that would be lovely..
Oh, fail to reply and you could be convicted for failing to reply so we can make life easier for us.
This was likely automated, and handled by staff not having warrant cards.
Good Day.
One thing I would like to hear on pistonhead, is like as a friend did years ago, he nominated his brother, who nominated his friend, who nominated him, who nominated no one again as he never got another, and they never heard anything about it again. We have evidence of a car like yours, so are writing to you oblivious as to if it was your car, or if you was, or know the driver.

Would be nice to have recorded account on when they give up.

On the course there was one person who couldn’t understand English and was asked to leave and another whose phone ran out of battery during the Teams call.
I also disagreed with something the presenter said about cars braking and the distance covered was the same for every car.

I learnt on variable speed motorways the speed cameras are also variable. To be fair I learnt this shortly after passing the camera.

Nope, depends on tyres, contact patch & conditions under it, pad size, wheel weight and stored energy, brake pads, friction, in addition to response time of driver, mechanical efficiency of the system...On the course there was one person who couldn’t understand English and was asked to leave and another whose phone ran out of battery during the Teams call.

I failed to see why a ball would roll across DC so I could determine if it was a DC or not. Dangerous thing for anyone to do miles from any urban area.
