old registration numbers
Discussion
Is it possible to revive an old reg number.I have never really been interested in personal reg numbers. The only one i might be interested in is the reg of my first car which was 613 MPH.after i sold the car i was told that the new owner scrapped it to avoid road tax (this was back in the 70s i don't think you would get away with that today).

Once its gone, its gone.
Some "normal" issue registrations cannot be transferred off either - Ive no idea what the rules are around this as they seem to vary quite significantly.
IIRC the historic plates that cannot be transferred are 'replacement' plates for vehicles that have had another plate transferred off them previously. Some "normal" issue registrations cannot be transferred off either - Ive no idea what the rules are around this as they seem to vary quite significantly.
I think the situation was that a company was requesting good plates for one/some of their fleet, then transferring them straight off by selling them or moving them to other owned vehicles, to the point that they were taking the piss, so a decision was made that a replacement plate could not be transferred off.
I may be misremembering, though

Have you done a search to see if it's available? It's not currently registered on a vehicle as far as I can see, but it could be on retention.
Be prepared to pay mega-money for it if it's available of course.

I am not seeing mega money there. 3x3, numbers first, 613 of no real significance.
MPH? Dateless? Mega-money.MPH 96 currently for sale @ £11,795
P1 MPH (not as desirable as 613 MPH) currently for sale @ £11,805.
But of course, that's probably small change for yow.
But then, nor are those figures anything like what they would sell for.
We have a few 3x3 plates, most of them the right way round, and we paid nothing like those figures.
