Great Service from my OPC!
Discussion
Last Summer I acquired a 987 Boxster Spyder with only 300 miles on the clock, two previous owners and only two services since new.
It was a truly beautiful thing, but it needed re-commissioning so I contacted the service department of my local OPC (Leeds) and asked them what should be done.
Before collecting it I had had an oil and filter change, and was advised by the Paul Mullins of JCT600 to whom my query had been referred, to start the running-in process from the start and that at around 1000 miles the car would need a 12 year service which would even include a change of the PDK gearbox oil ... a biggie, but to be fair I personally am in favour of a gearbox oil change after running-in.
The narrow roads around North Yorkshire were ideal for this and gradually building throttle openings, revs and general exuberance was no hardship and learning the car was wonderful. Even the weather behaved !
Come the day to take the car in, Paul was pleased to see the car and shared my enthusiasm for finishing the re-commissioning process. All done, he also applied a generous classic car discount and duly applied the dealer stamp confirming that all was good.
Thank-you Paul and OPC Leeds for a job well done!

I did 32,000 miles in a Cayman R and it felt very similar ...
I think the whole package is wonderful, the hood a tale of two parts since it is so easy just to use the outer section which takes seconds to fit, the inner part taking a little longer, but I never anticipated using the car in weather to justify that.
Now swopped for a 1988 911 3.2 Clubsport with a rather higher mileage ... but quite a find !

Good to read of great service ...
Maybe dealing with problems feels a little more heroic ? Or maybe the pain leaves a stain ??
Either way, it would be good to keep this topic alive, ... otherwise it might appear that good service is expected to the point of apathy ... (and when spending particularly the sums OPC's charge, maybe it is ?)

I've had great service from Reading when i collected my 992 C4S in 2020, and also when it went for its first service.
Also had excellent service from Swindon when I collected my 992 Turbo S cab in August this year.
Never really had 'bad' service from an OPC it just seems some slae persons are better at returning calls than others.

I have heard of a few horror stories about Reading, but my car purchase from them couldn't have been any better. Car was lovely, staff were helpful and friendly, same can't be said for the service dept but this is a thread of positivity. Are you "on the pop"? :-)

Is this something new from Porsche for the 987 Gen2 cars.Lovely Spyder...do you plan to use it all year round.
As for the Spyder, a beautiful thing now exchanged for an even more classic 911 3.2 Clubsport ... owner to owner, so yes it has been used this summer but I very much doubt that it will be used through the winter. Why would you ?

I ogled that very car many, many times when it was sat in the old showroom at the motorist (before the cars were replaced with lego and expensive jam!), really nice.
Also, whilst it was no doubt expensive, I didnt think it was 'that' expensive for basically a brand new car! Lovely thing.

Sorry but you sound like part of the marketing personal from porsche. I'm sure anyone who has bought multiple porsches have had good and bad service. But odd if you have no complaints. Also had excellent service from Swindon when I collected my 992 Turbo S cab in August this year.

Also odd you are buying from different centres as dick lovitt centres really don't like that, as the nice man in Cardiff opc once told me. And if reading were so good, why go to Swindon next? Are you working down the m4?

Any more Great Service posts ?
If not I won't try again to resurrect it ... maybe leave it as a sleeper for the next time somebody is moved to praise ?
Yes......I just bought a new Cayman 4.0 GTS from Porsche Wolverhampton and the experience was first class from start to finish . They completely rekindled my faith in the Brand after a pretty crap service from Porsche Silverstone and although for me it was a 75 mile drive from Milton Keynes whereas Silverstone is 20 minutes away , I am glad I made the effort .If not I won't try again to resurrect it ... maybe leave it as a sleeper for the next time somebody is moved to praise ?
