Moslers...

Steve @ Eclipse.

PS: I'll pop back later with a proper class explanation but, despite V8 Archie's ringing endorsement above, I can assure you that we have some great racing with grids of around 30 cars. Must do some work first though.

Yes, Steve is correct. There are usually a few representatives of other makes Mosler, Ultima, Marcos, Nissan (350Z), Corvette. Usually up to one of each.

It wasn't always this way, but other marques are a dying breed.

Take the Castle Combe round this year (it's not the most representative because of the tight noise restrictions, but it does show what I mean)...

The Saturday race featured lots of Ferraris and Porsches plus one each of Mosler, Marcos and Nissan (19 cars in total).

By contrast, last year the Saturday race featured:
* 3 x Corvette C5
* 3 x Ferrari 360
* 1 x Holden Monaro
* 2 x Lotus Elise
* 1 x Marcos Mantis
* 1 x Morgan Aero 8
* 1 x Mosler
* 1 x Noble M12 GTO3
* 7 x Porsche GT3
* 1 x TVR T400
* 1 x Ultima
* 1 x VX220

That's 23 cars from 12 marques compared to just 5 this year (although there was a greater variety of Porche models this year).

The British GT site tells it's own sorry story in this regard.

I wish it wasn't this way Steve, but as it is my interest in the series is waning fast.

I know what you mean V8 Archie, but I was trying to be a bit more positive. It's a shame that the ubiquitous Pooches and Ferraris are numerically the most dominant, but there are other cars out there. Okay, there may be one or two of each this year, but these things go in cycles. The grid for Silverstone had the Monaro, two Moslers, Nissan, Morgan, Prosport, Marcos and should have have had a BMW and the Ultima.

The loss of Dave and his Corvettes was an avoidable problem that could have been solved by some mild massaging of the restrictor rules to help him develop some power, but in general we still have fairly reasonable variety. We also have good size grids.

I understand your frustrations and desire for different cars, but we still have a pretty varied GT2 class compared to many series. The loss of the TVRs was undoubtedly a big blow though.

Right, must do more work...

I lost interest in the British GT's when the Corvettes pulled out.
Main reason they pulled out was restrictor sizes made it pointless to compete as the Porsches and Ferraris had too big an advantage.
Also Castle Combe has been hit by a numpty induced noise restriction meaning that next year there won't be a British GT round there as none of the cars will get past the 105db noise restrictions.

Not stricly true - the limit is 108dB(a), and most of the GT3 cars were around this. Most of the N-GT could just scrape a pass with if they 'wanted' to.
