Hello, my son is considering a Ford Mondeo automatic, when did they stop using the Powershift transmission?
Also, if he decides on a Hybrid, I think they have a CVT-like gearbox so would it be problem-free (as much as that is possible)?

I belive the 1.5T engine uses a conventional 6 speed torque converter automatic

The hybrid has a CVT, yes. I understand it that it works according to the same operating principle as the Toyota Prius drivetrain, an epicyclic gearbox with the ICE and electric motor both providing inputs. (Ford may even have licenced it from Toyota).

My gut feeling would be that the hybrid CVT gearbox would be fairly reliable and that the hybrid battery would be more likely to cause problems, but I don't have any specific knowledge.
