Who else hadn't realised that the plastic tops had been updated to stay with the plastic bottles ?
It's so that all parts can be recycled.
I hadn't and due to medication side effects I was moaning about bruising and scratching my fingers trying to detach the tops .
Another innovation that has caught me out .
It's bad enough having to use gadgets to open everything these days , and peel off coverings that don't want to peel off or break , cereal packs that are sealed for life .
Having a hand tremor whilst inside a large bag of crisps that took 10 minutes of vacuum cleaner use did actually make me laugh.
The joys of getting old .

Not sure what problem it's trying to solve. However I don't have an issue with caps that are attached by a thin bit of plastic.
I do have an issue with Tesco changing the cap of their orange juice cartons so they are no longer water tight once opened. Orange juice needs shaking!
It's not just OJ; sparkling water looses its fizz faster with the new tops. Suits the seller if they get thrown away half full of course, more sales, more plastic waste...I do have an issue with Tesco changing the cap of their orange juice cartons so they are no longer water tight once opened. For some reason now I find they go flat a lot faster...
IMO it's because the cap doesn't engage with the thread on the bottle at a flat angle, so it's easier to get an imperfect seal. I give the bottle a squeeze when the cap's on to make sure it's airtight.Well, I say that, I just snap the cap off (it's relatively easy if you just twist it clockwise).

I don't have a problem with the fizzy water. Get the lid on square and tighten up as normal. With the OJ though, you literally can't tighten it up enough to stop it leaking. It's gone from a normal screw top to a sort of semi screw top with a bit of cap missing which makes it impossible to get a tight seal.I've now changed to the plastic bottled OJ with a normal screw top.
If you can't open it, just ask a child. I remember a TV programme a while back about this.

I’ve noticed that since the change of bottle tops for milk, the milk doesn’t stay as fresh as previous. I hate stale milk and always discard milk when it reaches the “use by” date but now with the clear cap, I notice the milk thickens before reaching this date and it does effect the taste of my cups of tea.
I kept a few of the coloured ones when I got wind of the change and swap them over when I put the milk in the fridge; you'll find them on Ebay.craigjm said:
The caps staying on is really annoying
The first one I had with this, the bottle was almost hurled across the room - "What the f
k is up with the top ? It wont come off the f
king bottle ". On a large bottle I now have to hold the f
king thing whilst pouring. And as been said, what problem is it solving ? I mean, when the bottle is empty, I just screw the top back on and stick it in the sort our own rubbish bin.

Was this purely due to aesthetic reasons or did you foresee a problem with the white caps not sealing effectively?
