5 seat luxuryish SUV up to £25k, after 2016
Discussion
Hi all,
Appreciate this is a well trodden route but reading all the other forums has just made me more confused haha.
I'm looking for a nice, post-2016 SUV- something luxury is preferred.
My current shortlist is:
BMW X5, Audi Q5, Maserati Levante, Mercedes GLE, Vovlo XC90, Lexus RX450. Any history/ expereince with these is apreciated, as are any alternatives (bar a Range).
Main priorities are reliability, interior quality and (somewhat ironically) fuel efficiency. Obviously a good MPG is difficult with SUVs, but something not absolutely horrendous does the trick.
On a related note, is it worth steering compeltely away from 2L engines for a SUV, or is it worth it for the better fuel creds. Thank you!

Personally the bigger engines suit medium/large SUV's better as they're not working as hard as the 2.0 & I've found in general they don't actually give better fuel economy overall.

Have a look at a G01 BMW X3 30d, I had one for 18 months & I regret changing it, the 3.0 diesel suits it perfectly, it’s no slouch & the MPG is very good, interior is decent as well, one with the tech pack would be ideal.
Any thoughts between getting the X3 or the X5? What made you pick the X3 over say a Q5? ZaidS05 said:

It basically came down to requirements, the size of the X3 suited us perfectly, the X5 did come into the equation but I’d have been getting an F series X5 & the G series X3 was the newer model & the interior was a massive step up from the previous gen X3, also the X3 is a lot easier for parking in car parks. The Q5 wasn’t an option as I don’t like the Audi interior & prefer the BMW idrive system to the Audi version.

Where have you seen that? It should be for business users taking 2 cars as a minimum in a 6 month period. There's no PCH for MB these days sadly.
Have a look on the lease thread, it’s a PCH lease, it’s been a big topic of convo over the last week or so on the lease thread.335dTot said:

I went with a Range Rover Sport. I can only guess you are put off by the reliability? I got my from Land Rover, approved used, 2 year warranty so at least I've some piece of mind.
The only reason I bring it up is because you are getting more for your money now. Mine is 2016, 61k miles, approved used, £25.5k. When researching, I came across a 1 year old youtube video, and the 2016 car was for sale at just under £40k - a year later its £25.5k due to insurance issues in certain postcodes, particularly London and Manchester it seems (my insurance is £874)
The Q7 was on my shortlist, just need to look for air suspension as it wasn't std on all cars, and its supposed to be great so if you go Q7, look for that option seems to be a general consensus.
I just didn't like the GLE.
Don't discount the X6 from BMW. They have a very large boot, a more car like drive and typically you find them with more/better options.

I've heard the Jaguar's have the same issues with the Range's in terms of high theft and frequent repairs?
Cant say anything about the nick-a-bility of the jag but yes they do have the same engine issues as landroversGassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
