Getting rid of old number plates?
Discussion
Hi All
This might be a daft question, but clearing out my garage today, I have around twelve physical number plates I need to throw away.
Shall I put them in the normal rubbish? Is there a risk they would be retrieved and used as "false plates"?
They're a mix of metal and plastic plates, so not the easiest things to destroy.....
Thanks!
John

Stick them up on the inside wall of the garage and reminisce about all the cars you have owned.
Who knows, they might be replaced by a barcode in the future, so may have some value.

You've got hundreds of number plates?

No, really - I’ve got stuff from my parents going back to 1970, then loads off all the cars and bikes I’ve had because of tow bars, “freshening” up the look with new plates and loads are duplicates due to plates being moved from on vehicle to another - my current main plate for example has been on four motorbikes and four cars. Weird flex

I don’t collect them cos I’m a weirdo or anything, it’s just that they all mount up. I keep meaning to clad a wall in my garage with them.

Glad I'm not the only one, I have a stack about a foot high of plates that I've taken off old cars.I don’t collect them cos I’m a weirdo or anything, it’s just that they all mount up. I keep meaning to clad a wall in my garage with them.
