Just collected my 993, awesome!
When I had my Boxtser S my insurance company insisted on me having a tracker. Is this pretty much common place with any Porsche cover these days?

I have a company car and insure the wifes jeep in my name. As such all my NCB (full) is linked to that vehicle.

I'm now looking to insure the 993. I will do about 5000 miles per Year and it will be garaged when not in use. It has a Porsche immobiliser fitted. It doesn't have a tracker and I'm not sure I want to pay a further £500 to install one!

I've tried searching old threads but any help would be appreciated. Know of any Porsche friendly insurance company's out there with good second car NCD schemes who don't insist on tracker? I don't want much do I?
Otherwise, a day on the phone awaits!!!
Thanks chaps.

Some require a tracker some don't. I've been with Liverpool Victoria for the last year and they did not require a tracker or give a discount for having one.

That said I don't believe LV are a Porsche friendly insurer this year.

If you are only doing 5k a year get a classic policy as they save you loads and aren't connected to your no claims bonus so you can keep that for another car.

Try Aon - 01483 706 000
or Classic Line - 01455 639 000

I arranged insurance through Tesco who were the most competitive by miles and did not require a tracker.

Have you thought about putting the 993 in your wife's name and getting insurance through the broker who deals with your jeep as they should be able to mirror your NCD?

Hi Lee, another vote for AON. I`ve been insured with them for many years. They will insure a 993 on a Modern Classic policy, its based on agreed value (per £1,000)and limited to 5,000 miles pa. Unused miles can be carried over to the next year.

I pay just over £500 pa for my policy and it covers myself and my wife to drive it. NCD does not apply to this scheme, therefore dont expect the policy to drop each year!

hi my vote is for A plan (can get the number by searching old threads). Just renewed my policy with them as they were the only reasonable ones for a more than 5000 miles (its my only car). They offered me a policy with a tracker and one without (80pounds more) underwritten by Markerstudy, a no brainer really.
many thanks to everyone who has posted about insurance. Reading threads allowed me to save £500 (about half of my new clutch! )

i went with www.elephant.co.uk and my 993 was the first car I had insured for 10 years. So no claims discount wasnt an issue :-). They came in very competive and didnt require a tracker (500 excess helped)

Thanks chaps. I went with Classic Car insurance, £659 for 5K miles per annum.
The only problem is, I want to drive her all of the time. Makes my old Boxster look like a Honda Accord!!
Thanks for all of your help.
