Im suprised there havent been more comments on these, I reckon the top one is great. Might look good in b&w too!

All lovely shots of what looks like a future PHer. As said, no.1 is a cracker. The thing I don't like about the other two is the background. It's too much in focus and there is too much going on back there. I'd love to see a crop of no.3, just the lad, his car, and the background knocked out of focus.

Martin.

PS - I took the liberty...hope you don't mind.

This was done very quickly...

I thought this - the top one is great, surely one for the spot colour treatment, just the car in colour?

quick and dirty effort sneakily done when i should be working:

Fantastic pictures. Especially number one.

I don't know why I bother, but I had a go at adjusting number one...sorry if its crap...

Great photos, top one is best.

You have to select the background using one of the drawing tools.

In this case I would draw round the boy and then do the command "Selection", "Inverse" as it may be a bit less work. Then feather the adjustment a bit, I think the command is something like "Selection", "Modify", "Feather" and add a number of pixels. Then add Gaussian Blur from the normal filter ranges. Be careful when adding the blur as it is easy to overdo it and the result clearly looks false.

Top one by a mile, and as Dobbo has spotted, crying out for the b/w treatment.

Easier to do it when you're taking the photo

Thanks guys

He's the spit of me only littler he saw the first one and said;

"Why am I sulking daddy?" lol

I'm always a bit scared to put my photos on InterWeb, I gasp in awe at everone else on here, whereas I take hundreds and occasionally there's the odd one that I think is ok - playing the numbers game me finks

BTW, I totally love the crop of no 3 - I have a scary aversion to things being in the centre so I don't normally try stuff like that. However, I'm gonna go do it myself on the original now

Why? Everyone has to start somewhere! We're all totally into helping here, and even really good photographers like Steve(Get Carter) and Matt(Gravy) are only too pleased to help us, what can we lose?

I post all sorts of crap up here (my thread about my new speakers springs to mind), so you really shouldn't be scared! Lots of pics is what makes this forum interesting and posting for criticism is a very useful way to learn.
