Hi,

Has anyone jumped from Spotify to youtube music?

I use a lot of YouTube for our child and I also use it a lot and the adverts really do get on my nerves.

I've been on Spotify since it started but 10.99 a month seems a lot for just streaming (the same continual) music and the odd podcast.

I have, I'm not a massive music listener so came as a perk from premium, however used to be on a family Spotify so now wife has left that also and gone to apple music.

Seem to have all the songs I wanted, playlists work the same and soon Google podcasts are going over.

I prefer the interface on YT especially on android auto.

Good point about AA interface actually I'll try that tomorrow.

I will find the occasional bit of music that's recommended on Spotify, I don't use any of the tosh playlist recommendations and podcasts seems to be on all of them.

I think im talking myself into it, and I can also cancel and go back to Spotify if not getting on with it.

I've used YT Music for a few years now, as above I originally got YT Premium to be able to download YT videos and watch them with the screen locked (I forget why now, I think it was due to my Gym not having WiFi and no decent mobile signal). The recommended stuff is always spot on but sometimes when I want to perhaps find something new the suggestions aren't varied enough, although by the sounds of it you're not massively impressed with Spotifiy's recs anyway!

The only other thing to mention is I use a different app to listen to podcasts as they don' have them on YT Music, I believe Spotify also has Podcasts so you'd need a separate (free) app for that.

Youtube music is great, I find their algorithms for suggestions to be much better than Spotify.

Only downside is you can't cast Youtube music to Alexa devices, if such a thing would bother you.

So I signed up as they have the two month offer on. Typical as I noticed Samsung were offering four months free with my S23 though boost.

It's got most music I need, but it's a bit iffy when going offline and listening to downloaded music. Spotify seems to work well here.

Switched last year sometime. Cancelled Spotify Duo and went with YouTube Premium with YouTube Music.
Used some service I can't remember the name of to transfer playlists from Spotify to YT Music.

I don't stream music over cellular data, so have all my playlists and liked songs downloaded. I've not encountered any issues with playing back the downloaded content in YT Music.

Getting both YT Premium and YT Music for roughly the same as Spotify Duo was a no-brainer!

I have YT Music as I'm a Youtube premium subscriber, but I don't use it and prefer Amazon Music which I pay a bit extra for since I have Amazon Prime. Maybe I should give YTM another go and see if I can ditch Amazon Music.

Lot of money down the drain there to me.

£99/year? I suppose it depends on how much disposable income you have, but personally I don't feel it.

Can I have it instead then?

If you're that hard up that £8 a month is a problem, then I fear you have bigger problems than which music streaming service. And I'm a tight-arse who cancelled my TV licence because I never actually watch TV, not because I couldn't afford it.

I use Youtube Music with an Argentinian Account,

Costs me 699 ARS which works out to be around £1.50 for a 6 Person Family Account
