Good evening. One has a rough running and misfiring cylinder on a brand new petrol car. AA have been and run their checks and they were not impressed!

Red Warning lights on too, what a mess.

Is this common on brand new cars, in all my years I don’t think I can ever recall getting this immediately after delivery.

Car is used by my wife and is a 2008.

200 miles driven….

I'm guessing the OP means it is a Peugeot 2008 as they say it is brand new with 200 miles on it

I just wondered whether this is common or not!

I don’t want to get lumbered with a car that fails after two days!

What did the dealer say when you told them of the problem?

No it’s not normal

Dealer needs to sort and put you in a courtesy car while they do.

Or you can use your rights under the CRA and reject it.

They reopen on Monday for “service issues”……..

I am obviously furious and hence wanted to get the view of others on how common this type of thing is.

The AA chap couldn’t understand why such a new car generated so many alerts.

What is the CRA? I suspect that is kind of thing I am after if it allows me to take formal action.

What issues has the AA said it has? Get it recovered to the dealer so it’s there first thing Monday.

Errors happen. Call the dealership and they will fix it

It's not common. But, it's a mechanical product and it's why they give you a warranty. Let them sort it out and move on.

What did the AA diagnose was the problem? Could be something as simple as a single coil pack plug slightly loose, clip it back in and itll never happen again?

Lots and lots of parts in a car, sometimes 1 part of the assembly can go wrong on one car out of 10,000.

Bad luck and hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction, but occasionally these things do happen. I once saw diesel runaway on a brand new £120k vehicle, also seen lots and lots of paint imperfections on new cars, or rust on cars after just a few months ownership. In all instances the dealers made it right.

Very unusual with modern QA but I guess some still must slip through the cracks. I doubt you'll have any trouble getting it sorted.

Ram-raid it through the showroom windows and fight them tooth and nail for a full refund. Wait for the refund to come through to your account, then go and place an order for one of the models you didn’t want first time round and wait for months until it’s available for collection. Your wife will appreciate the fact that you’re nobody’s chump while she’s spending her time on public transport.

Either that or give them a call on Monday. Explain how disappointed you are that the car has this issue so soon and arrange for them to fix it and sort you out a courtesy vehicle.
