Hi folks

After a non-fault bump in my car, it's in for repair and I'm in a Mazda shopping trolley thingy supplied by Enterprise.

Annoyingly yesterday on the M1 a stone hit it and there's a circa 25mm chip/ spiders feet in the windscreen. The whole area fits within a 50p piece.

I tried my insurer to see if i could just still do a standard repair claim but no dice. They told me to contact enterprise and advise them. My excess on my policy is £400 and I think that has carried over to my loan car as they asked for proof of policy when i collected the car.

Anyone know what enterprise will do if i call them? Massive bill? Presume I'm better just getting a local repairer in?

Depends on the circumstances of your non fault bump as to what insurance coverage they have applied to the replacement car. My info is likely out of date, but it used to be that only your liability transferred (hence asking to see your policy) and then either the other insurance company was paying to cover you on Enterprise CDW matching your own excess, or you were covered in full.

Check what you signed on the agreement (boxes all down the right or all down the left?)

Failing that, call Enterprise. They will advise. Don't go spending money until you've asked them..

Also note that windscreens are generally separate to your general excess. On mine a screen repair is £10 and a replacement £140.

Do you have time to use a DIY repair kit? (Epoxy injection).

Car went in for repair today. Expect it'll take a few weeks minimum. I didn't know this was even possible to self repair!!

Kwik Fit and/or Halfords do £40 chip repairs. I'd do that I think. The most you can save by DIY is less than £40 and the chances of fking it up are probably high.

That a big old piece of damage.

May not be repairable.
