I had no knowledge about this chap, and the massive task he took on to help rescue 600 odd children during WW2, although i do seem to have a vague recollection of the TV programme where Eshter Rantzen did a piece about him, and he was sat in the audience surrounded by some of those he rescued (unbeknown to him).

And in the film, there is the similar scene portrayed and in that he (played by Anthony Hopkins, who was the only actor Wintons daughter wanted to play the part) is surrounded by some 'actors' that are in fact, some of the children of the actual children he (Winton) rescued.

Moving stuff and there is also loads of other detail to it which I had no idea about.

went to see it and would recommend it with no hesitation....

Great film.

And Hopkins was the right choice. A really really good film.

A remarkable story, and quite a That's Life moment

Some words in that clip which should be read aloud on a daily basis by a great many ppl. Not the least of which, should be in the House of Commons.

I would often sit next to him at Maidenhead station waiting for the Reading train to work.
