Have I (or the BBC) missed something but someone was given 18 points and a 6 month ban for failing to reply regarding who was driving her car

Seems excessive

Not really excessive, the whole point is that failing to comply with the process should get you a harsher punishment than admitting it was you would have done, otherwise nobody complies with the process.

Three offences, 3 failures to name the driver, 3x the points. If anything it was lenient as it looks like the ban wasn't applied 3x.

I think it was 3 separate incidents so 3 x 6 points.
She also was already on 11 points.
Sounds like a bit of a liability on the road.

6 points per offence is mandatory. 3 separate offences means 18 points. Add to the 11 points she already had and it takes her (removes shoes and socks to help with counting - oh dear not enough toes) well over 12 points, so a 6 month ban is standard.

Nothing unusual apart from the fact that she was daft enough to do it.

Ah it didn't say 3 separate offences - I thought they asked 3 times for the same offence

She really doubled down on things and it has come back somewhat to haunt her. Mind you, she still has her "job", maybe British Athletics should look at that.

Twitter had some funny stuff on this yesterday, including someone saying judge banned her as the training ground was only 10 minutes down the road.
Bianca.."Do you know who i am, I am Bianca White, Olympic sprinter.."
Judge "Sorry, madam, .........its 5 minutes down the road" .

Section 172 offences charged are so-called document offences. Nothing to do with bad driving. They pertain to failure to deal with admin.

The mandatory minimum disqualification increases to 12 months if there is a relevant previous disqualification. The offender is this case did well to have all three matters dealt with at one sentencing hearing. Therefore, 6m not 12m.

Were any of those points for another admin failure?

For totting up purposes, she has 0 penalty points; a 'totting up' disqualification (of any length) wipes the points slate clean.

As already pointed out the points will get wiped by the totting ban, what won't get wiped is her driving record, so when asked by her ins co about conviction details in the last 5 years, her answer will have to be "yes and please find enclosed a large sheet of A4 paper"
