Is it me or have Tamora prices taken a big drop in the last few months?
There seem to be plenty of cars in the trade with less than 20K miles, full histories and with 18 inch spiders for less than £20K.

I was thinking about one in April but almost all were priced on the wrong side of £25K. I got another Chimaera instead. Now Im wondering if I should have waited.....
Is this speed 6 anxiety or just more on the market? :scratchchin:

You should have waited!!!! lol. Seems about right for a 3 year old+ car that was £36K new. As has been stated on other threads similar to this, there is not a lot of money about at the moment, we are in quite a big reccession, people are thinking twice about buying normal household goods (even B&Q are suffering badly, at the mo, as are a huge percentage of high street shops!), let alone 20-40K sportscars.
Another factor is that people love the looks of the Tuscan more, and when choosing, the Tusc usually wins on looks alone (I found it hard to chose a Tam over a Tuscan!).
I do believe the prices will level out, and due to the 'excusivity' of the Tamora, they may well even go up in value slightly in the future!

bit of both I suspect. that along with a bit of a recession (look at the massive downturn in retail - people have got less disposable at the moment).

I was wondering about Tamora prices, too, but you're right.

I wouldn't have thought the prices reflect the number of Tamoras on the road. I've never seen one on the road apart from mine. I never even saw one at my dealer or took one for a test drive. I bought it because it's the most rare of the current TVR's in production and I love the looks. However, had the Tuscan design not taken two steps backwards I would most likly have bought another one... With the release of the Tuscan II the Tamora is the best looking TVR currently made (all IMHO)

I think the cost of fuel will have a detremental effect of our cars value more than anything else in the future, just cost me £57 to fill up a 54 litrle tank!

I waited until prices were at £20k before buying my Tam, think I got a good deal at the time too.

Prices of any convertible car will drop once the summer is over.... they pick up again in spring.

22-23mpg normal driving, 27mpg on a motorway run, 30mpg achieveable. Try getting that out of an f-car or Lambo. 911s do about the same mpg.

I know that, and you know that, but it's potential buyers' perceptions of the costs that will be most damaging.

I think you did too Nick! But I'm a happy seller now too as it was literally a few days before I left the UK and plan B was to leave to be sold on behalf by Silverstone TVR!!!

Hope you're getting as many smiles per mile as I did.

I just thought it interesting that a 2002 Tamora can now cost less than a 1999 Griff or Chimaera 500. The depreciation profile on Tamoras seems different. Even now you dont see that many early Tuscans (2000 W plates) for less than £20K but plenty of 2002 Tamoras .

Great news for prospective Tamora buyers I guess. Id rather have a Tamora than a Tuscan anyway and the relative rarity adds to the attraction. Its all academic for me anyway as I bought the Chim 500, which will do nicely for now.

Good to see lots of happy Tamora owners on here .

Anyone want my Jan '02 (51) Tamora with 31,000 miles?
I'll take a bag of dry roasted as a fair price in the current climate!

I think the Tamora is a little know TVR outside the close circles of TVR world and tends to appeal more to the enthusiast than the dip your toe into TVR ownership brigade. The Tuscan due to much great publicity is widely known and the Tamora isn't.

Thats not a bad thing for Tamora prices.

The Tamora is a better looking car the longer it has been out. You can now start to see how radical it actually was when it came out.

It may have a weird arse but so has Jennifer Lopez and that sells well.

For everyone that likes the Tamora I think two people don't and surely that is the reason in having one.

After all I am sure they are actually faster than most other TVR's anyway ;-) so isn't it better that all they can see is your big arse in their face.

Whatever model good examples always sell and bad ones don't.

how fast did you go in mine????
I loved it when I first seen one in the 'flesh', it looked like nothing else, and seemed so dinky for such a powerhouse of a car, over the years, it looks as fresh as ever (perhaps because I'm so used to seeing Saggies/T350s/Tuscans). I wouldn't dare change mine too, been too reliable!

I have looked at a couple of superb Tamora's recently and would have bought if it wasn't for the shocking depreciation on my relatively new Mercedes C220 Diesel Saloon. £10,500 in 2 months to be exact. I actually think I couldn't have done any worse if I had have bought a new TVR.

indeed!!! Could you not do a 'deal' with some of the TVR dealers? I had to do that when I traded in a 6 month old TF160 to buy my Chim (I also lost thousands in depreciation, well over £6K!) cars certainly arn't investments! We have our Tam mainly for fun (well, I actually have ended up using it to get to work every day, I enjoy it so much!), and a 'workhorse' 1.2 5-door Clio (we have 3 kids between us, two aged 9 and the other 11), a great compromise between fun and practicality!

, And I strongly suspect this is the norm for MOST s6 cars, especially 3.6 Tams and T350s.

I tend to agree with you Chris: happy owners tend to keep quiet.

And that other thread about the engine blowing after 500 miles doesn't help matters expecially as the cause is not stated so people jump to conclusions!

And my car's not for sale either. I'd only want to replace it with another Tamora so don't really see the point!

Cheers.... Andrew
