I've been a long time supporter of having a silverback gorilla in the back of police vans, tethered by a long chain and just open the rear doors when there's public order.

Yes, and bicycles are cheaper to maintain.

How do you know. Just because you have never seen one doesn't mean they cant

Maybe an idea to get a few more police in city centre areas riding around on bikes or scooters
for faster response and can chase people up alleyways etc.
