I heard this from Mrs Tiga last night in the pub, and a good job she told me there. Its a disgrace. Maybe if they stopped making things like "White chocolate curly wurly squirlies covered with a thick coating of Caramac before being made into a bar, then smashed into even smaller pieces, covered in thick Bounty Ice Cream, then blended into a drink" and concentrated on "normal" everyday things like Snickers, Mars, Twix, that everyone loves, they wouldn't have to bring it into the 00's. I went to the shop at lunch and couldn't even get a Crunchie. Gutted.

What? When I was a kid smarties came in a long thin rectangular box made of cardboard.

This is terrible! One of the joys of Smarties tubes was poking out the cardboard end when empty and using the tube as blowpipe to fire the plastic cap at someone.

This was raised months ago, and I have yet to see a hexagonal smarties tube. Indeed, I bought the kids some the other day and they were still cylindrical and had the top with a letter of the alphabet on them.

There was a bit of a hoo-ha about it last time I heard the plan, so perhaps they've come to their senses and realised that they shouldn't fix something that isn't broken, or would that be too much to ask of the monkeys in charge of large business these days?

yep way back in late 20th century, in the forgotten decades of the 1980's and 1990s that was all you could get...

[note: just did some research, apparently its different all over the world, couldn't find a pic but Australia is closest to canada, but our boxes aren't as wide.]

yes sad I know, still a five second search on google (what I call research ) isn't as sad as someone who acutally has a smartie collection and makes a webpage on it!

I used to reckon you got more range by leaving the cardboard end in and creating the required overpressure by putting the tube on the table and thumping it.

All marketroids should be shot. With a strychnine-coated Smarties cap, of course.
