I've become a miserable old git?
Discussion
I never used to be this bad, but nowadays many more things irritate me than ever used to. I cite but a few:
Queuing (for anything).
Poor service in pubs & restaurants.
"Stop-start" petrol pumps.
Not being able to find things.
Slow drivers.
Things which require coins (pay & display, etc).
People that turn up late.
Unnecessary roadworks.
Scroungers & layabouts.
Innacurate weather forecasts.
Tax.
Christmas.
Honestly, I could go on and on. I seem to be turning into some sort of Victor Meldrew / Basil Faulty hybrid. Thinking about it, it started when my hair started turning grey (late thirties). I reckon, my "miserableness" is the square of my "greyness"! By the time I'm fifty I could be a nightmare to live with!

Steve, I too am irritated by many of those things - and many more I don't doubt.
I think it is simply because as we get older we get to the point where we have simply had enough of life's irritations.
Whereas before we had endless patience and time had little meaning and value, as we get older we become all too aware of how precious a thing time is and thus resent it when it is wasted.

All of these are symptoms of "Grumpy Old Man" syndrome. I watched the TV programme of the same name with my kids who are young teenagers and they were agreeing that they were also annoyed by the same things that I identified with. I think it is more a case of "miserable intelligent person" syndrome because the lesser brained e.g chavs, would not notice this stuff anyway through their lager fuelled haze.

Noisy kids
One of my pet hates, could hear the kids for most of the morning but couldnt see them so I yelled out the window at the top of my voice SHUT UP it then went deathly silent and I went back to chilling out
Well I've got four lively kids and I've found a way (well several) of getting peace and quiet. Basically, we spoil them:
Sky TV - with all the channels
Playstation 2 with a decent projector and screen.
Laptops all round / Broadband (with perental controls).
Just about every toy & gadget that ToysRus sell.
A bedroom each.
All topped off with copious amounts of bribery.
Irritable Male Syndrome.

If you google for "hot flushes", you should get plenty of useful advice and tips!

Hmm, it says:
"However, in men who are castrated as treatment for advanced prostate cancer, levels fall by at least 90% and men become more withdrawn, but more emotional."
So that's the answer is it? I think I'll carry on being miserable
