There are some I don't like that much but hate is an emotion best avoided as the only person it really affects in a very negative way is yourself.

None.

If you hate someone or thing, you’re allowing it / them to live in your head rent-free

Much healthier and better to let it go and forget about it. Make your own peace with a situation, the world has a habit of righting itself in many many ways and forms.

How many people have you encountered in life that you've utterly hated? I don't just mean someone you bumped into once, but rather people that you've had an ongoing relationship with, i.e. siblings, parents, other relations, neighbours, colleagues and so on.

Despite being a rather quiet chap, I wonder if I'm some sort of anomaly in having encountered so many horrible bds.

My list:

1) Chav scum named Ryan that grew up in the same (council) street. Proper anti-social scum with a list of convictions as long as your arm. The entire community (and world) would have been ecstatic had he died young.
2) Next door neighbour to parents again in the same (council) street. Played banging music throughout the night before I had an early morning flight to Dublin. Anti social . Eventually burnt his car out, evicted his wife and kids and then fked off with another woman.
3) Father's boss at a well known Cancer charity. Treated my father like st in his job. I also helped as a volunteer by collecting donation bags filled with items. Despite putting in many shifts as an unpaid volunteer, every single time he bumped into my father and I he would blank me. Not a single acknowledgement, hello, or thanks. Utter . He was also a devout Mormon, but eventually left his wife and kids.
4) Current next door neighbour. Damaged the party wall on my side after doing some building work. I pointed out the damage to him, he claimed he would rectify it, but thereafter has avoided/blanked me. Now ongoing issues with their anti-social collie, despite repeated complaints.

So that makes 4.
I would wager that none of them even give you a second thought.

'Hate is like drinking a vial of poison and expecting it to harm the other person.'

There's not a single person on the planet I 'hate' but there's plenty I dislike, or pity, or wouldn't lift a finger to help, wouldn't care if they dropped dead tomorrow but 'hate'? I don't have time to waste on that, if I hate them then they're living rent free in my head and I don't need that sort of st in my life.

'The best revenge is to live well'

Life isn't perfect but it's pretty fking good so why drag yourself down with hatred?

A friend of mine who was sent down for raping his step daughter for 7 years, in a very close 2nd place is the fiddlers wife who knew what he had done yet forgave him and had two kids by him, both sick fks.
Another is a family whose son is in prison for death by dangerous driving, the parents who covered up for him and have gotten away with it.
Another person who owes me money and is currently stalling on paying me back, he's on his last chance before I professionally and financially ruin him.

Im a nice person but end up knowing complete stbags it seams..

I hate Nigel Farage with every fibre of my being.

I’d pay many 1,000s of pounds for 10 minutes alone with him in a locked room.

As a grandad, I realise violence is never the answer, but I’d make an exception with that fking .

21 year old lad gave me a severe beating in a skate park when I was 13, despite me not having done anything. He was a lot bigger than me and got confused on drink/drugs and thought I'd stolen his drinks.

Hated him and occasionally plotted a hypothetical revenge, until I saw him about 15 years later. He was still confused but now small, missing teeth and looking a bit tragic. To say I felt sorry for him isn't quite true, but I certainly lost the desire to smack him as I honestly think it might have killed him.

I was thinking about this the other day, I've had people that I really dont like but then 1 or 2 that I'd say I hate with a passion.

1- Old Sgt/flight Sgt when I was in the cadets, he thought he was the dogs dangles, made my life hell, was a blessing when he left. I bumped into him about 3 years ago in a bar, spoke down to me straight away used my surname as if we were still teenagers, then quickly realised I wasn't gonna take it and backed off. Tums out hes now also best mates with a lad I really didn't like at school.

2- A mate of mates, we used to all hang around for our love of the same bands, took an instant dislike to him and he squared up to me one night, only seen him a handful of times since in 15 years, also bumped into him in a bar but there was me and about 5 mates and he was on his own so he didnt even approach.

I generally am quite relaxed these days, got time for people and to help people but probably wouldn't help either of these if they were in trouble.

I can honestly say that there have been less than half a dozen people in my entire life that I have really hated - and most of those are either forgotten or no longer even thought about.

As has been said, continued resentment is like preparing poison for someone then drinking it yourself. Either avoid said people as much as possible, or if you no longer see them, don't dwell on it.

Just let it go.

Nigel doesn't even know you exist and I assume you have never even met him.

Your hatred is raising your blood pressure and stress levels and harming you.

I know it’s a long time ago but I’m sorry. If it makes you feel any better she was asking for it the dirty girl and I don’t think you were suited.

There are a few world leaders that I hate at the moment.

I read a fair amount of hate towards politicians. I can dislike some of the ideas and policies they support but I really can't find any hate for someone I've not met. Most of them are likely pretty nice pleasant people.

My old games teacher, Selvage. If there was anyone less suitable to be a teacher it was that , unless bullying and belittling school kids is a prerequisite. He’d be 70 now but I’d still love to bang him out.

Also the financial controller who forced redundancy on me at my last company. A clueless, corporate brown noser.

He isn't. He may be personable but he's a self serving exploitative , riddled with racism & empirically a fascist whose done enormous damage to the country in pursuit of money & status. But I don't hate him. I'm happy for him to suffer defeat after defeat. Seven goes at Parliament, via a dolphin, one Jungle & counting. All political careers end in failure, his circumvented the bit in the middle & long may it continue.
