Well having spoken to sole traders and small companies in the past about vans, not many had been overly complimentary about their Transporters.

Ha yes, we ran large numbers of both at work the Transporters were crap compared to the transits, unreliable expensive to fix and waits for parts that kept them off the road

Oh so true. My neighbour has a T6 van. Lowered, 22 inch wheels. First trip away in the summer and they had to buy a pair of steel wheels and tyres because the tyres had worn through showing cords.

VW really seems to be on a journey of corporate suicide.

Just last week they put out some PR for investors saying that their brand no longer has any value in consumers' minds.

And they're cutting production and shedding jobs as a consequence.

What happened?

EV range not good enough. Questionable quality. Pushing the premium brands like Audi further down into their space and Skoda back up into their space. Rubbish technology foisted on their bread-and-butter Golf which isn't well received. Sacrificing the VW brand during dieselgate instead of Audi.

I would agree.

The CEO was also on record a few months back about dreadful decisions around 'touch only' controls being an engineers and tec bro decisions which was criticised by all the pre-production customer panels and testers - yet was forced through 'because tech'. He admitted there was a culture of VW knows best, not the customer, and that unproven products were heading out the door as they didn't have enough development time for things.

From what I’ve heard, Ford will be building all of their cv’s except the new caddy for some reason.

Not just the VW brand that has gone down the toilet, Audi is down there too.

Modern Audi's are just a software nightmare on wheels, horrible things.

I thought the new Caddy was the Transit connect? We all know the Amarok is the Ranger form the Ford production line in SA. The VW fanboys love that when it’s pointed out…
The new Caddy will be the Transit Courier, which has grown in size to the current Connect.
Connect seems like it’ll be no more.

At least, that’s what my local Ford dealer told me a few weeks ago - so more than likely wrong.

There was supposed to be a new Connect, but that would make sense there wont be as the Tourneo has been available for a while that is based on the Caddy or whichever way around, and they have just released a new Courier but no Connect, and being it will only be VW building the Caddy, they could be also assembling the Tourneo for Ford and their own Caddy.

Whatever happens, the new Caddy is fking horrendous.

In a World where VW Transporters are so popular and seen everywhere with huge list prices and very good residuals, it seems mad that they think selling a modified Transit is the way to go.

Nothing wrong with the Transit, but the VW guys want something that feels like a proper VAG product.
