Vanquish 2 tyres
Discussion
Hello all,
Following a successful MOT test today, the very helpful tester informed me that my front tyres of my 2nd gen Vanquish are slightly perished. Although not even worthy of an advisory apparently, it is enough of an excuse for me (or more accurately, justification to the wife) to seek out replacements for the P-Zeros that are currently fitted.
I am not a fan of Pirelli in general and would would typically lean towards Michelin. Could any of you wise folks advise of any experience in such matters or have any nuggets of wisdom to share.
I should say despite not liking the driving characteristics of the P-Zero, I do like how they sit on the rim and the car. Long story short, as with all things in the Aston world, aesthetics are a factor... fickle as that may be.
P.s. Apologies if this topic has been covered, I don't get on too well with the PH forum search functionality.

This might not be comparing apples with apples but when I bought my 2010 DBS I insisted on new tyres as part of the deal and the dealer fitted Pirelli P zeros.
After reading numerous posts on here on the superiority of Michelins I mentioned tyre choice to a well known independent Aston specialist. Interestingly he said whilst Michelins were the clear 1st choice for the Vantage he would still recommend the Pirellis for the DBS.
I don’t know anything about Vanquish tyre choices but Michelins may not necessarily be the way to go. Unfortunately you can’t try before you buy.

Can’t help with Vanquish specific but I am a fan of P Zeros.
I had them on my V12S and in all types of weather and driving I had no complaints.
I had to replace the Michelins on my R8 when they couldn’t get me a replacement post puncture so that also has now a full set of Pirelli’s on ( PZ4’s ).

When I had my Vanquish the tyres on the front (Pirelli P Zero) were just over 6 years old and still legal.
Had new ones put on and it transformed the car.
My current vantage was stored for 4 years before purchase the tyres still have 7mm of tread but are 7 years old, in the new year all 4 will be replaced probably with P Zero.
I will be looking for a tyre with a rim protector as part of the tyre wall, some P Zero's do have them, well worth getting as it saves the rim if you get to close to the kerb.

My tip would be to ignore the in-house search facility.
Try typing, 'pistonheads forum aston martin', followed by your question or part topic subject into Google.
It seems to work fairly well.
Using that, I even found some very early topics written in 2003/04, about the new Vantage. Posters discussing dealers, who could not accept any more orders for the new model, almost 2 years ahead of production.

4 years! Hopefully the car was raised off the ground, or the wheels regularly rotated.
I left my Vantage for a just a few months and after that there were temporary flat spots.
Fortunately, a little 'Italian driving' sorted that problem.
I'm running the P zero on my Vanquish S and I've found they are a pretty good tyre for the most part.
I've been impressed on track, and during the summer road use. Less keen when it's really cold, anything sub 10° and I find they break traction very early but if you don't use it in a spirited fashion during the winter this will never be an issue.
I note a comment above suggesting the Michelins were quieter but I can honestly say I've never ever thought the pirelli to be noisy. Done some very long trips in it and it can be super quiet when cruising a quick google puts tyre testers suggesting they are pretty similar.
I think if you are tracking it the the michelin might have a very slight edge but I doubt most is us would notice the difference where as if you are all year driving so going through winter use then I might seek out the Michelin but if not I would stick with the P Zero as they seem a fair bit cheaper

After swapping from Dunlops to Michelin PS4S on my 600+BHP Jag XFR, I was amazed at the night and day difference.
So, when I got the Vanquish I did the same, as the original tyres were getting past their best. I have no complaints about the PS4S and they are still going strong after around 20k miles.
