Help!

I'm 22 and have a 1.8 Morris Marina based Marlin Roadster which is completely standard apart from a small non-structural and non-performance scoop added to engine bay / side panel. Last year I paid £400 for unlimited miles SP&D with a £100 excess - 3pts on my licence were declared before the start of the policy. My current policy runs out 2nd of October.

My current insurance company (Sabre through Graham Sykes) are no longer offering insurance for kit-cars, and GS can only offer me a 5000 limited miles policy with a £500 excess when I turn 23 and will only offer insurance if I use the Marlin as a 2nd car (which I don't).

Footman James offered £1,218 with a £250 excess this year for the same policy I had last year.

Adrian Flux refused to offer a quote (and pretty much hung up on me) because I am unemployed at the moment (just finished Uni and searching for suitable employment).

Last time I tried ringing all of the other companies (last year) they refused to quote for under 25's. What on earth has gone on this year to change the system where I now have to pay tripple the amount?

On the job front, I have an interview on Friday which I'm hopeful for so this diaster might be averted but it's looking like I'm going to have to sell the Marlin :(

Another thumbs up for MSM. OK, so I am an old fart, but I got an unlimited comp cover on my Westfield for £350.

funnily I have been phoning around today... I've always been with MSN and found them very good.

I also tried Footman james today and they quoted me over £770 for an exact same insurance that MSN and adrian flux were around the £300 mark for!!!!

Another vote for MSM

I really don't know what's going on with kit car insurance at the moment. A lot of company's now ask me my age before even begining a quote. Luckily I turned 25 last last year so am ok, but it seems they're not quoting for younger drivers like they used to

And another happy MSM punter here. Flux wanted £400 odd and a Cat II imob/alarm for my car and I wasn't allowed to drive it to work...MSM is £340, more miles, European breakdown cover and they don't mind about the imob/alarm only being Cat 1 or the fact I might actually want to use the car to drive on the road occasionally..

Still with Flux for the Westy though.....and I too am an old fart.

FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC!

Why on earth hadn't I heard of MSM before? I've just been given 5years NCB since I've been driving my parents car since 2000. The lady (Jan or Jen) was really helpful and nice to talk to and above all they offered a quote for the money I was hoping/expecting this year (£346 TPFT). I'm pleased!

Thanks for the recommendation, I can't believe I hadn't heard of them before.

My Libra has been insured with Dave at MSM since I started building it. I rang 'round this year and got cheaper quotes, but on close comparison the cover was not a patch.....sent the cheque off this morning.
