I've always wanted one of these, and am now thinking about taking the plunge and trying to find a minter to keep long term. So, are there any educated views on which one to go for ? I'm not so keen on the looks of the 80's bikes, so I'm really looking at 1990 onwards - Last of the air cooled, or any of the water cooled models.

Don't buy an 1100J. Evil handling bastard of a bike that successfully kills people.

Now I think about it, I'm fairly sure it was the 1100L that was the evil handling killer bastard bike and not the J. There was a rash of deaths at the Isle of Man that year including Phil "Mez" Mellor, and the unlimited class was actually dropped as a result.
