A friend sent me these photos after she clipped the van trying to pass. So she was passing & he was illegally parked. The van driver is claiming 100% her fault.

Thoughts?

Your friend hit a stationary vehicle? I would say your friend was at fault.

Agree with the van driver, you can't drive into something because it's parked where it shouldn't be.

Maybe he's not illegally parked, he could be loading.

ETA
Looking on streetview, the yellows stop at the post so is the van even on the lines as the photo has that in shadow?

I agree with the above, if the van was stationary when your friend hit them, it's your friend's fault. Whether the van was parked legally or not is irrelevant, in my opinion.

Just because it was parked on double yellows doesn't mean she can drive into it... IMO anyway.

Does she wear glasses and have a full driving licence?

fk me. And your asking this. Its your partner isn't it? Damage limitation springs to mind.

If the van was stationary it is 100% your fault.

Sounds like I need to tell her to start an insurance claim.

Not surprised, just thought I’d ask.

You really shouldn't have needed to ask.

There are penalties in place for parking illegally. I'm not aware that being hit by another car is one of them. 100% fault of the car hitting the van.

eitherway totaly on the friend, cant really make out much damage from the pics, but it is a vauxhall, so probably improved the looks abit.

That would (OK might) be funny if the post you quoted actually contained a spelling error.
