We use Helikon UTP at work. They are light-ish, fairly durable ripstop, not crazy expensive, and available in 'normal' colours. I'd say you could probably get away with pub wear, but it would depend on the pub.
At home I pretty much live in my Harkila trousers, which are used for all kinds of countryside/outdoor/dog related stuff. Very good, but more expensive than the Helikon stuff above.

Fjallraven hiking / hunting trousers would get my vote.
They are durable and look fairly smart (if you avoid the ones with the knee patches.)
Not as tactical looking as most stuff but they are well tested.
Agreed... not surprising as I've got a few pairs of Fjallraven trousers (Vidda pro and Vidda pro ventilated, plus a pair of Keb's).They are durable and look fairly smart (if you avoid the ones with the knee patches.)

They are expensive (I usually wait until I find a good offer) but they are worth every penny IMO.
I use mine for hiking and general wear as they are so comfortable. Can't really remember the last time I wore a pair of jeans thanks to Fjallraven.

I assume the trousers are better made than the ubiquitous backpacks one sees? The boy managed to wear a hole in his in a matter of weeks at school. Worst £80 I've spent. They are expensive (I usually wait until I find a good offer) but they are worth every penny IMO.

I'd go back to the shop/site you bought the bag from... lifetime guarantee is supposed to be good.I've really put the trousers through their paces (pun intended): gorse bushes, sharp granite, rough millstone grit, the odd barbed wire fence... they've had a fair bit of hammer and no signs of wear (the black colours can fade a bit in bright sunlight - that's my only complaint).

Not endowed with tactical pocketry cred but wash quickly, don't let your arse get wet, have stretch and can be worn places. Have a couple of pairs for general muckiness in winter.

I’ve a few pairs of Revolution Race trousers and rate them.
Are they exact size, I.e. I'm a 36 waist but often find I size up due to my quads etc making it tight when stretching. I'm looking at 2xl on their sizing. However on some brands I've been caught out. I bought a Musto parka recently in XL and its huge on the stomach (its not designed to go over kit) Hugo Stiglitz said:

I have heard that they may be addressing this issue at some point, than again, customers have been complaining about the fit for years and RR have done nothing to address it.
As I always say: Revolution Race: gear for people who want to look like they enjoy the outdoors, but spend all their time in the city.
Hang on what the f
k now? People wear cargo trousers to pubs and want them to be hose downable?
Surplus stores are becoming thin on the ground but hard to beat. Otherwise both my pairs of 150 quid overpriced Ralph Lauren cargo trousers are actually quite comfortable and form fitting. I wouldn’t wear them to a pub mind.
