One of the more peculiar events in WW2 History. I'm sitting in a pub at the moment and enjoying the run up to Christmas; the lads on 'Ye Olde Pub' were having a very different experience 80 years ago.

The day of original post, sixty years ago, the Auschwitz trials in Frankfurt began,
Germany´s first attempt in bringing the men ( and women ) who kept the holocaust running to court.
In the 3rd trial 1970, one of the accused was our neighbor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruno_Beger
He did not spend one day in prison, held numerous lectures about his Tibet expedition before trialled,
and was the "nice man next door" running a paper distribution co., had a Tibet dog as pet and reminder of "the good old days".

That is fantastic, thank you for sharing I had no idea.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Brown_and_Fr...
I recall seeing a programme about that, truly remarkable.
The German pilot kept quiet as he would likely have been shot by the German authorities, not many of the luftwaffe were members of the Nazi party.
He said that after the story got some press coverage in Germany, he received anonymous phone calls accusing him of being a traitor and threats to his life!
