As an occasional poster on this forum, I have a question and just wanting to seek some opinions as to which watch to buy next.

Currently have an Omega Aqua Terra with a white dial along with a Certina DS Action diver in blue and looking to add a chronograph to make a 3 watch collection (I have had 5 at one point but ultimately one can only wear one watch at a time and I don’t have unlimited resources!)

I have had a F1 non chronograph in the past like this one

https://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/TAG-Heuer-Formula-1-Q...

and ideally want something with a metal bezel for a change.

Looking at an absolute maximum spend £1500 so looking pre owned and seen the following

https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Tag%20Heuer/Aquarace...

Or

https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Tag%20Heuer/Formula%...

Or with a discount as I think they are available

https://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/TAG-Heuer-Formula-1-Q...

Any thoughts appreciated or indeed any other watches that I may have missed.

Thanks

Personally I prefer a Carrera, mines from 2007.

I prefer the fact it can work as a dress watch or as a sportswatch. Plus the pricepoint is about right.

I now want to go in Omega direction with (ideally a Super Racing) a Speedmaster or Seamaster. But they're a bit above my budget.

Thanks - I do like that although i fear they are outside my budget. I have the dress watch angle covered with my Aqua Terra which is a lovely watch and could easily cover all bases. Looking for something more utilitarian, if that makes sense.

Like you i would want a Speedmaster but will have to wait until my numbers come up! Unfortunately Mrs BVD knows how much they are so I don’t think I could even sneak a used one in!

I have the Aquaracer you posted. Owned it from new and think it looks great.

Cheers - always good to get some opinions from owners.

I had a Junghans chronoscope watch which I never jelled with for some reason and consequently never wore so sold it for not a lot less than I had paid.

This is far better value than the watches you are considering (looks nicer too in my opinion). I’m not sure I would pay. £1500 for a quartz tag.

This is my Formula 1
Certainly not nearly £2k , nearer £900 , plus about £200 for S/S bracelet , it came with a black composite one

Which is why I am looking second hand as £1500 is my absolute max.

Much as I do like the look of the Carrera, it is not quite what I am looking for - it is perhaps a tad dressier than I want - I am a Aqua Terra for the dressier side of things

Maybe that is the way forward since I prefer a bracelet to the rubber ones

Would go for an Aquaracer out of the two if it was me, previously owned an Aquaracer and it was quite a nice watch. Mine wasn't the Chronograph model though

Thanks - opinions are useful and I am tending towards the Aquaracer to be honest

I am looking at similar watches / budget for a watch for sons 18th.

He is into F1, so naturally drawn to Tag Heuer, but trying to get one at a good price.

What do we think of this one?

https://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/Pre+Owned...

Any other recommended trustworthy places to get best discounts on Tag or good pre-owned prices?

I like that lot……if I didn’t have a blue watch already would have gone for that I think- with the Red Bull I am sure your son would love that.

To conclude this, am waiting for delivery of a 2021 Aquaracer chronograph similar to the one I put on.

20% off from H and T who have a great selection of pre owned watches.
