This week i've spent 300 quid on effectively food that will last for about three days in my house and I'm craving a Chinese on Sunday.

Whats your food on a Christmas Eve traditionally ?

Kids want Domino’s, but me and the wife would have a good curry Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing Day if we could.

We have a homemade ham and cheese quiche as theres left over egg yolks from making royal icing and the ham has been cooked and is available for eating.

We did it last year waited for absolutely ages as it was so busy . Then they delivered utter cr#p and we called them and they said they were too busy to do anything else . It rather spoilt the evening.

I think it's like going out on new year's eve , or a meal on valentine's day

Best avoid

I usually put together a big spread of tapas and smorgasbord type food, enough for about 10 people (just the two of us). Not sure what to do to this year as my wife has just started a course of weekly chemo/immuno therapy so we aren't feeling too Christmasy. I'm determined to do something.

Typically, Cypriots enjoy avgolemoni soup on Christmas Eve, which is scrumptious

A mixed starter of chicken tikka, lamb tikka, sheek kebab, shami kebab, chicken tikka pakora and an onion bhaji followed by a chicken tikka biryani with madras sauce. No bread, need to leave room for Xmas dinner.

£300!!! You must be feeding a LOT of people.

I couldn’t do a takeaway and then the biggest meal of the year the next day.

This - every fker in the local vicinity will have the same idea and you'll be sat like a prize knob an hour after the expected delivery, hungry and probably too pissed up to drive and get something, only for some lukewarm tray of dog st to arrive.

Obvs different if it's round the corner and you walk there but you get my point.

Guess some of this you may already have, just break into it a day early.

Cheese 3 to 5 types
Pâté (can make your own easy enough)
Cold cuts/Salami
Assorted fruit
Carr’s water biscuits (other brands are available)

Push the boat out.

Will beat sitting around, waiting for a takeaway.

I hope all goes well for her and you both end up having a lovely Christmas
