I’ve got Innodrive on my 992 and it works better than the system in our Mercs or Volvo. I like it for longer M-way drives and it’s easy to switch off all the lane keeping guff too.

I didn’t take it and it’s a joy to drive a car without steering blighted by lane keeping

Less worried about lane keeping but active cruise makes it more likely I’ll use it on drives with longer motorway stuff. Does traffic queue work ok ?

Super easy to switch the lane keeping assist on and off. One button on the stalk.

And yes is makes the boring M-way stuff easier

I never use cruise control. Can’t see the point. Makes motorway driving boring. Hone some skills, eg regulating speed including in relation to other vehicles, lane discipline, keeping safe distances. Keep yourself alert.

I think it is becoming pretty essential as the country is covered with smart motorways.

Good to know not sure need innodrive but adaptive sounds good, agree on smart motorways etc just makes life a bit easier.

Standard cruise is very handy when there are speed cameras, or for the very long distances we did driving to France and Spain in the summer.

However Im so fed up with lane warning systems and self correcting steering on our daily cars that I deliberately didn't add it to the 992T

Whilst I hate steering systems and warning systems, I find active cruise on cars to be really great.

There are now so many cameras on some journeys that you just want to stick to a speed that's ok and cruise really makes that easy and removes any hassle. You can always choose when to use it and when not to. Yes when driving Nice-Calais in one go, not on the Nurburgring etc.

The big problem is that the EU is mandating more and more systems every year and whilst they can be switched off they now need to be switched off every journey, which in some cars is easier than others.

I use active cruise all the time on my daily (Cayenne)….absolutely love it and wouldn’t have a daily without it. I’ve got an air cooled 911 as well as a more modern one….plenty of time in those driving properly when I want it smile

Flip of this experience, we have it on a modern Skoda and it's quite terrible.

Speed cameras a problem??? Just check the speedo every now and then. Is it really that difficult?

Yeah I think that’s a bit of a blinkered view mate. You can’t beat cruise control in a temporary speed limit with narrow lanes. I’d argue it actually makes a car safer to drive.

I’ve had advanced cruise on my last few cars, it’s an absolute must for a daily driver. But I totally agree with how bad/annoying the lane keeping is. Just turn it off…

Of note, if you have adaptive cruise on a 911 you can usually just pay to upgrade it to full inno drive as it’s just software.

Since having Adaptive cruise control (not needing the innodrive) in a demo for a period of time im finding this so good for long journeys, it stops me speeding and i less eager to try and overtake people i just set it on someone making reasonable progress within 10% of speed limit and cruise. Its also really good in slow moving traffic.

Sorry mate, you make it sound like cruise is for people who find driving particularly difficult. :-)

Ha, yes true. I guess it depends on your point of view or how many points you have on your licence…. Mate..

For a daily, I think it's a worthwhile option. It's very easy to switch off when you don't need it.

For UK motorways that are a bit, stop-start, and with smart motorways changing the limits on the same stretch of road, it does make them a little less tedious. It's a better system than on my wife's Tesla too.

If you're not sure, I'm sure the dealer will have demo car that you can try.
