Mrs CnC had placed an order with an organic food supply provider censored

Anyway, regardless of the name, the company concerned usually provide a reliable service, but today, the delivery driver had mixed up our delivery with another for a house with the same house number as ours, but at a location around 5 miles away.

On phoning the company, they were very apologetic, and contacted the person at the other address, who confirmed that they had our box. The company said that they would not be able to get a driver out today, but would try to get someone out tomorrow to swap the boxes.

Well, as it's very close to Christmas, and both boxes contained orders which would make up a vital part of the Christmas dinner, and as I had a little time to spare, I said that I'd drive over and drop the box we had received to the other address and pick up our box from them. The company spoke to the other customer and confirmed that they were in, and would be ok with this, so Mrs CnC and I set off.

On arrival at the other address, the door was answered by a pleasant couple who were very grateful to get their order, so we swapped boxes and went back to the car. Just before driving away, Mrs CnC said she wanted to check the box against her order, and found that as well as her order (3 items), there was an additional shoulder of lamb in the box. Now a little confused, we went back to the house and asked the couple if the order in their box was complete. The lady checked her box and said that there was a shoulder of lamb missing, so obviously we gave her the lamb, had a brief laugh about it, and went on our way.

If you've managed to read all the above, it struck me that the above scenario seems very, very unlikely - that the delivery driver has mixed up 2 deliveries (not unlikely in itself), but that whoever packed the boxes and sealed them beforehand, misplaced one item from one of the boxes into exactly the same "other" box that the delivery driver would later mix up. By the way, both boxes were clearly marked with the correct respective addresses and customer names.

Cool story bro etc.. but I can't for the life of me work out how that would happen.

No criticism intended of the company here - they offered to rectify the mis-delivery, and also gave an unprompted discount to both customers, and we'll happily continue to use them.

Mod edit. Clues to name is still N&S!
