...anyone noticed peoples' reactions are different when you adorn your car with one? Very odd.

Not really, I still get the 'nice motor mate, what is it?' from the great unwashed

I've also had a few owners of modern TVRs tell me that the plate would look far better on their car, but so far none have come up with the £10000 needed to prise it off me

Private plates have never really 'done it' for me. Plenty of people have suggested getting TVR plates for my car, but I can't help thinking that if people don't know that the car is a TVR when they look at it, then the 'TVR' number plate probably won't make them any wiser.

Yup, I still get the odd person asking me about my Triumph / Lotus etc with a TVR plate on it.

I just grin and bear it, put my arm around their shoulder, smile nicely and tell them to F*ck off

I had a Griff which came with a TVR plate. Either it wasn't noticed, or attracted kindly comments. I wouldn't go to the trouble of buying one though.

The only person who couldn't handle it was a militant cyclist (known only through a flame war) who had a giigle amongst his chutney-knitting mates and ventured to suggest I had a television on the dashboard... not sure of the connection, but I suppose both are icons of capitalism to him. ****ing loser!
