We are looking at a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in 2024.
I understand that Nov-Feb is the best time, however, September is £600 cheaper as it is the rainy season.
This will be a touring holiday, no sunbathing.
Anyone with experience of this area and can advise if the extra £600 is worth it.

We were in Vietnam for 5 week Sept/Oct this year; it did rain a fair bit, usually dried up fairly quickly. However, for 2 days it was a complete wash out making it fairly impossible to do anything.
Some of the storms were impressive; I do like a good storm. Didn’t experience any power cuts. Using Grab for taxis, means rain shouldn’t inconvenience you too much. Go and enjoy, fantastic part of the world.

Bit of a gamble but won't stop you sight seeing. We got caught in epic rain and lightening in Hanoi in Feb 2020. Had to wear a jacket and trousers in the evenings to keep warm enough, so even in season it can change. You may even get a baking dry summer in September.
Thailand is having an odd season this year. We had to move from Anderman to South East to get proper sunshine this November , assumed it was the shoulder season but it persisted right into Christmas on that side of the gulf.

Largely depends on where you are, coastal areas tend to get more rain.
Usually it'll absolutely piss down for an hour or two and then be fine but you can get times when it'll rain for the whole day.
Being a monsoonal area it rains hard, none of that light drizzle we get here.
October is usually the better month, cheaper than Nov and a good chance of better weather. Sept is a risk as you could still get the tail end of rainy season.

Just your luck really. The NE monsoon weather can bring a prolonged deluge or the hour rain blast. I lived and worked over there for 12 years and have seen a right mixed bag.
We were in Can Tho in November ,and only really saw one huge dump of rain in 2 weeks ,but that was an evening of biblical proportions.
It will be a good bit cooler , so worth the risk I’d say.
