Rod is an odd one
Great in the Faces in the 70s then it all went a bit tacky trashy pop (do ya think I’m sexy?)
But in recent years he’s kind of mellowed and has done some interesting projects making the best of his great bluesy voice. He has also just done an album with Jools so there is also undoubtedly some promotion

If I recall, Hootenanny 2022/23 was entirely miss-able - lazy and looked like Jools couldn't even be bothered.....

This is usually my highlight of the day but as you said las years show was pretty much awful.

Hopefully the charismatic Mr Stewart can make this a good one.

No doubt a pissed up Vic Reeves & his ample breasted Mrs will be present & annoying.

I think that his voice is failing him now - a bit croaky rather than bluesy

Last year was a huge disappointment - it is normally one of those programs that makes the license fee seem valuable.

My fingers are crossed for tonight.

Rod and Jools were playing at St Pancras station earlier this month and still sounded pretty good despite his age, more raspy than croaky singing old swing & big band music promoting a new album out in February. The pianos at the station were donated by Elton John apparently to encourage new talent and there's always someone bashing the keyboards up there, worth a visit if you're passing by. Hoping to watch the show later party

The ever-young looking Paul Jones is also present,

I saw The Mannfreds a few months back and Paul's voice
and moothie noodling is in fine form so expect some old hits you mother should know.

I'm not enthused about the line up but the tv alternatives are worse so will probably end up watching at least some of this .

Sugababes original line up might be good if they can still sing ,they had some decent songs in their time , with various trios .

Just always seems like the audience is miserable.

Lacks any sense of celebration of being NYE, which presumably stems from being filmed prior, but pretends to be live.

A TFI Friday style show (live) with chat, comedy and music would be good for NYE.

Not surprised to see Rod Stewart on the show. Jools and him have just got a new album out shortly of big band and swing tunes.
