Investment advice - future critical illness considerations
Discussion
Hi All,
Looking for some investment advice on what you would do in my situation.
43 yrs old, married, one son who is 6. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease last year so who knows what the future holds regarding care needs etc.
Still working, and hope to for as long as possible. Earn roughly 100K a year including bonuses. Wife has a decent job also.
No debt, bar a mortgage which will be cleared next year. Had always intended to move to a bigger house but that looks uncertain now unless the lotto comes in.
My investment strategies in recent years had largely revolved around putting as much into my pension as possible to enjoy in my late 50s onwards, whilst reducing tax paid. I had been hoping to get my pension pot to a reasonsable size (600k+), but im not sure if this is the right strategy now.
Objective is to ensure as much of my "wealth" can go to my son in the future, whilst obviously considering future care needs.
Any thoughts? Thanks,
