Best Live Music Recordings

Alice in Chains - Unplugged - the opening performance of ‘Nutshell’ is highly emotive.

Porcupine Tree - Coma Divine. Great sounding, well produced and good performances all around. A good synopsis of their first few albums and an excellent introduction to the band.
Jazz at the Pawnshop - I don’t like Jazz, but even I like most of this. Brilliant recording, one of those ‘in the room’ recordings that really makes you feel like you are sat right by the musicians. The original (vol1) is the best but there is a vol2 and a ‘complete recordings” versions that are all good. I’m no Jazz geek but the performances seem excellent as well.

Marillion - La Gazza Ladra
I think I remember being really disappointed with that, because of the fade-outs between tracks, it's years since I listened to it and I think I'd probably play "Real to Reel" now unless I wanted a later song. I always want a live album to sound as if I'm listening to a gig, and it ruined it. Similarly I can't put a series of live tracks on my MP3 player because it insists on putting a gap between them. Back to the suggestions:
Live (X-Certs) - The Stranglers - a decent raw live sound, even if it is made up from several gigs. I enjoy later ones, more so when they feature later songs, but this is the first live album I bought, the first Stranglers album I bought, and probably the first real record I bought. I got it from the local Woolworths, in the bargain bin. I had to play it in the living room as we only had one record player, which didn't go down well at the start of one track as Hugh Cornwell decides to remonstrate with a heckler.

However, I've not heard a better live set than this:-
