Source material and projector lumens

I’m out of my depth on with this so hoping somebody here understands and can help.
We ‘need’ a projector set up for a tour show and I’m really surprised by the costs quoted. We would usually use the venue’s equipment (for a charge) but somebody has had the bright idea to buy all the gear this time.
The venue size it will be used in will be 1,000 - 2,000, some slightly more, some a little less.
The source material was recorded in 1080p which I assume is important when considering playback equipment?
One of the quotes includes an 11k lumens projector and the other an 8k lumens projector. These are both quite expensive and I don’t really understand why a decent home type projector wouldn’t do the job? The projector will account for about half the cost it seems with the screen and a lens making up a significant amount of cost.
The 8k setup is c£11.5k exc vat and the 11k setup is c£20k.

Why are projectors and screens so damn expensive?
